Where it hangs best
For artwork accent lighting, position the fixture on the ceiling 18 to 24 inches from the wall and aim the beam at a 30-degree angle to the wall surface — this illuminates the artwork face without producing glare from the light source directly above. For kitchen cabinet uplighting, install along the cabinet run and aim downward to illuminate cabinet fronts and counter surfaces simultaneously. For gallery-wall installations, use multiple units from a set and space them to cover every artwork piece in the run with an individual directed beam. In bathrooms, a pair flanking the mirror area provides the most flattering face-level illumination without the harsh top-down quality of overhead ceiling lights.
- Over a table or island
- Leave about 30–36 in between the surface and the bottom of the fixture so it lights the table without blocking sightlines.
- Open floor
- Where people walk underneath, keep 7 ft (84 in) or more of headroom; add 3 in for each foot of ceiling above 8 ft.
- Over a long table
- Aim for a fixture about half to two thirds the table's length, or a row of pendants spaced 24–30 in apart.
- The bulb
- 2700K–3000K warm white suits living and dining rooms; 3000K–3500K reads crisper in kitchens and baths.
Designer's rule of thumb: add the room's length and width in feet. That number, in inches, is a good fixture width.

Installation
Can my ceiling hold it?
Standard ceiling boxes are rated for fixtures up to 50 lb. Heavier pieces need a box rated for the weight, fixed to framing; your electrician will check this. Email us for the fixture's weight before you order.
