Where it hangs best
Position over a dining table with the bottom of the pendant at 28 to 34 inches above the table surface. Over a kitchen island, hang at 30 to 36 inches above the counter. Because the marble disc diffuses light broadly in all directions rather than directing it as a focused beam, it works best as ambient dining and intimate task lighting rather than primary kitchen work illumination — pair it with recessed or under-cabinet task lighting for the work zones of your kitchen. For maximum visual impact, let the pendant occupy a relatively uncluttered ceiling field where the stone disc reads as a singular design object rather than competing with adjacent fixtures. Pairs beautifully with marble or stone countertops, warm wood grain surfaces, linen textiles, and matte plaster wall finishes.
- Over a table or island
- Leave about 30–36 in between the surface and the bottom of the fixture so it lights the table without blocking sightlines.
- Open floor
- Where people walk underneath, keep 7 ft (84 in) or more of headroom; add 3 in for each foot of ceiling above 8 ft.
- Over a long table
- Aim for a fixture about half to two thirds the table's length, or a row of pendants spaced 24–30 in apart.
- The bulb
- 2700K–3000K warm white suits living and dining rooms; 3000K–3500K reads crisper in kitchens and baths.
Designer's rule of thumb: add the room's length and width in feet. That number, in inches, is a good fixture width.
