Hang the single pendant with the bottom of the shade at 28 to 34 inches above the table or counter surface. For the three-head cluster over a rectangular dining table, center the cluster on the table's midpoint and maintain the same 28 to 34 inch clearance. For kitchen islands in the 4 to 6 foot range, the three-head cluster provides even coverage across the full island surface without requiring the spacing decisions of multiple separate pendants. In hospitality applications — restaurant dining rooms, boutique hotel bars, cafe counter seating — the single-head version installed in repeating grid patterns creates cohesive, atmospheric overhead lighting that reads as professionally designed at a practical fixture cost per installation point.
- Over a table or island
- Leave about 30–36 in between the surface and the bottom of the fixture so it lights the table without blocking sightlines.
- Open floor
- Where people walk underneath, keep 7 ft (84 in) or more of headroom; add 3 in for each foot of ceiling above 8 ft.
- Over a long table
- Aim for a fixture about half to two thirds the table's length, or a row of pendants spaced 24–30 in apart.
- The bulb
- 2700K–3000K warm white suits living and dining rooms; 3000K–3500K reads crisper in kitchens and baths.
Designer's rule of thumb: add the room's length and width in feet. That number, in inches, is a good fixture width.

Can my ceiling hold it?
Standard ceiling boxes are rated for fixtures up to 50 lb. Heavier pieces need a box rated for the weight, fixed to framing; your electrician will check this. Email us for the fixture's weight before you order.
